Old site design

This announcement is for users of the old site design which was previously
accessible at http://former.imdb.com/ and via a registration preference.
In February 2007 the IMDb site design was updated and for the last 16 months
we have provided options to allow people to access the old design. As of
today the old design is no longer available, sorry. The old design was always
a temporary unsupported interface which we were willing to offer as long as
the support costs remained low. Unfortunately a growing amount of staff time
was being consumed in dealing with issues arising from the old design. Also
the divergence between feature sets on the two designs was starting to become
a problem with photos, trailers, FAQs, parental guides, character pages and
news (amongst other things) all unavailable on the old design.
Usage of the old design has fallen to only 0.012% of IMDb users and so it no
longer makes sense to keep it around. We can use the time saved to improve
the experience for the 99.988% of users who are already using the new design.
For similar reasons we have also removed the option to hide the photos on the
new design.
We appreciate that this change will not be popular with those people who
prefer the old design and we're sorry about that. Please take a second look
at the new design and give yourselves some time to get used to it; there are
many new features which you will not have seen before. Note that we addressed
the issue of plot keyword spoilers in the new design yesterday, as announced
here:

If you have any constructive suggestions on features which could be
added/modified in the new design, please let us know.
